Letter to the Bank

This is an actual letter sent to a bank manager by an 86 year old woman. The bank manager was condescending enough to consider it amusing and sent it to the New York Times. It’s a very good reality check on what Americans have got so used to putting up with that they regard the impertinence of the bureaucrats as acceptable behavior. The 86 year old lady hits several nails on their heads.

Dear Sir,

Follow the Neurons – Your Life Map

Almost everyone I have met has seen one or both of the movies “What the Bleep…” and "Down the Rabbit Hole." They are familiar with the concept of neurons in the brain joining together to form pathways down which the nerve force flows more and more easily, like a little gully formed when rain trickles downhill. Water flows more easily down the most traveled pathways and so does nerve force. It’s how habits are formed.

Getting out of a comfort zone should not be as hard for scientists as it is for the less smart people who run their lives on programmed reactions to life’s little challenges. After all, the scientists deal with facts don’t they?
