The REAL Easter…not the Takeover

Here we are again a couple of days from the Easter season. Easter Day this time is the same for both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, which doesn’t happen all that often. The stores are filling up with Easter Bunnies, Easter cards and Easter Eggs, trying hard to be a bigger commercial success than the other less than stellar season of Christmas that was also a takeover of a very ancient, pagan, religious event.

Dam the Bureaucrats!!!!

Since this is St. Patrick's Day a little whimsy is allowed, maybe even expected. This is a copy of correspondence between the usual boneheaded bureaucracy that many of us deal with in various ways, and someone who gave them MUCH better than the menacing threats they dumped on him. Sorry I couldn't include the photos. I don't know how. But the letters tell it all.

Blood of your Ancestors

Recently I was in my favorite coffee house Richton Perk in Richton Park, IL
( See the posting ‘Douglas Discovers Coffee, updated 2/13/2009 for its story). All the regulars have their own custom hand lettered mug with their name on the side and the date of their becoming a regular on the bottom, with their number since the first mug was made. To everyone’s surprise and delight a long lost customer, number 12 of the regulars came in with his beautiful cousin, on the exact anniversary, March 12th on the bottom of her mug.

Aspartame…Sweet Poison for the Masses

I really thought that I had written my last of many articles about the real dangers of aspartame about ten years ago and that everybody by now would know how dangerous it is. But the light has not yet dawned on the ad happy American public. And then of course the clever drug manufacturers never stop their wily ways.
